Shotgun: a fine 12 bore side by side boxlock ejector by Westley Richards, with single trigger and hand-detachable droplocks, no. 4 of a quadruplet.
30" barrels with sunken concave rib, dolls head extension with gold-inlaid '4', the barrel flats stamped with Birmingham 1887-1904 and reproof marks, bead foresight and 2 1/2" chambers.
Scalloped action, profusely engraved with fine acanthus scroll and the maker's name to both sides. The trigger guard decorated with blackgame bordered by foliate motifs. Patent toplever with gold inlaid '4' and safety indicator. Single selective trigger. The droplocks and action flats stamped '250 1897'
Highly figured, flamed and striped walnut straight-hand stock, cast off for the right shoulder and chequered at the hand and fore-end (with inset horn tip and further gold inlaid '4' to the release catch.) In it's former owner's canvas and leather motor case with accessories. Serial number 16071
